Jan arrived in Mallorca in 1986 at the start of a career in yachting. She travelled the Mediterranean extensively & in 1991 bought a village property in Capdella in the rural south west.
In 1999 she opened the first office of its kind on the island for County Homesearch, UK’s leading property finding group. The company was awarded the ISO 9001 certificate for high quality service management and was one of the principal homefinders for the Channel 4 TV series location, location, location. The programme still tops ratings today with almost 2.5 million viewers.
In 2004 Jan became an associate of The Property Finders, a marketing consortium for professional property search consultants, going on to create ProMallorca in 2009.
That year, she completely demolished her Capdella house to oversee a construction project on the same site.
“The challenge was to design a light-filled, retro-modern building with private outside space, given the plot is in the heart of a village surrounded by eight neighbouring properties. It also had to incorporate views of Galatzo, the highest peak in the south west, so we created a T shaped building 180 degrees from the original.
“Only two elements of the original construction survived. The old well, built in the 1800s, which now sits perfectly in the new office floor with a glass top & the massive, iron studded, oak doors which have pride of place as a work of art suspended on the wall in the double height hallway.”
Over the last 21 years, Jan has sourced every type of property in Mallorca – from holiday apartments in Puerto Andratx to a penthouse with medieval patio in the old city of Palma; from a traditional, rustic townhouse in Arta with views over San Salvador church to an exquisite stone finca with majestic palms & lap pool at the head of Fornalutx valley in the Tramuntana mountains; from a frontline, family villa with stunning clifftop views of Palma Bay to an exceptional, contemporary waterfront home in Bonaire with direct access to the sea.
As each search is unique to the client, she uses a wide range of contacts made in Mallorca over the past 26 years – people within other service industries, community associations & businesses serving both residents & expatriates.

Jan’s Mallorca market reports are taken up by Spanish Property Insight and she has been a regular contributor to Country Life International. She has also appeared in Financial Times, The Telegraph, Sunday Times, Times Online, International Herald Tribune and overseas property press.
